Seth helped us make substantial progress in building strong, positive partnerships among diverse organizations that provide capacity building to community-based organizations. The combination of his thoughtful and compassionate approach to people and his knowledge and understanding of the whole system created a space in which people could be honest and critical about the current state and think critically about the future. We highly recommend Seth to assist new and struggling partnerships to form effective strategies to work together.

For three years, The People Group worked with the staff of A+ Schools while I served as Executive Director. I have seen the impact of implementing key practices and processes to maximize the power and effectiveness of the team. During this engagement, the staff created a team purpose, established agreements for working together, and instituted work plans and strategic thinking to better focus their efforts to promote equity in the Pittsburgh Public Schools. Personnel costs are the largest item in most organizational budgets and A+ Schools made a strategic investment in our human capital. Our work with Seth has been an essential component to managing our organizational growth. He has helped us to grow together as a team of learners and advocates.
— Carey Harris, former Executive Director, A+ Schools now CEO, Literacy Pittsburgh
Our team worked with The People Group over a four-year period to implement a leadership development program for a cohort of high-potential managers across multiple teams in a variety of locations. The primary goal of the program is to develop the team’s capabilities for cross-functional collaboration. Based on participants’ evaluation comments, they: 1) gained perspective as to the benefit of stakeholder diversity in decisionmaking processes, 2) established a mutual understanding of ambiguity as a constant in today’s business environment and that rational discussions are required to work through possible scenarios, and 3) learned strategies that enable teamwork across distinct groups and reporting relationships.
— Jon Rosenson, Senior Vice President of Strategic Initiatives, Expedient
Seth designed a process to examine The Pittsburgh Promise’s purpose, values, and mission. We were approaching the ten year mark for our organization and knew it was time to evaluate our statements, evolve our brand, and plan for the future. Seth provided an outside, unbiased perspective and a framework to guide us in addressing critical questions. He facilitated a process that engaged our entire team, allowed for all voices to be heard, and ensured that differing perspectives surfaced. Our sessions with Seth provided a launchpad for further internal discussion and collaboration which resulted in new statements that our staff and board agreed upon unanimously. The resulting statements are more than words on the page, they are the guiding principles by which we make decisions and define our organizational mission and strategy.
— Saleem Ghubril, Executive Director, The Pittsburgh Promise
Seth is an excellent partner to work with - he helped us identify critical items that advanced our capacity, was very well organized, and produced products that exceeded expectations. Additionally, Seth’s collaborative style made working together easy and fun. I truly enjoyed working with Seth, he added tremendous value to our work.
— Stephanie Ueberall Shaw, Director of Violence Prevention, Citizens Crime Commission of New York City
Over the last three years, Seth has guided, and partnered with, our three-person volunteer board at the AIA Pittsburgh Foundation For Architecture to design, develop, and facilitate a new leadership development program for architectural professionals. Initially, we requested Seth to be one of our guest speakers, but he suggested that he could better support our efforts by working closely with us to create the entire comprehensive program. We are so grateful that we took him up on his offer! Seth has brought an incredible level of expertise related to leadership development that has not only impacted the participants, but also the firms for which they work, and the communities in which they live. Furthermore, our three-member board has been transformed by the experience, and we look forward to continued collaboration with Seth. I would highly recommend The People Group if you seek transformational ways to grow the leadership capacities of your people.

NeighborWorks Western Pennsylvania retained The People Group to provide leadership development to the communities that we serve. Through this engagement, we successfully launched a series of neighborhood-based cohort programs that were informed by, connected to, and strengthening of participants’ individual efforts to impact their community. Upon completion, not only did participants state that they built their leadership capacity, but also that the program opened new areas of learning and possibilities for collaboration. If you are looking for innovative ways to build capacity of people, I would highly recommend the systemic approach used by The People Group.
